I first discovered Cigar Bid in November, 2010. My first purchase their was 10 of the 6.2"x52 La Perla Habana Cobre Belicoso for $19.00. These were well aged and had a powerful draw. The very first flavor thoughts that came to mind was dull, creamy buttery flavor and the fresh smell when you first walk into a small bakery in the morning. It was about a month later I got into the routine of looking to sample at least 10 new cigar blends from each monthly order. Since then, I have torched over 500 new lines from Cigar Bid with no end in sight.
While I have been smoking premium handmades since 1998, going from burning maybe one or two new cigars a year to more then 10 a month has put my pallet in flavor overdrive. From 1998 to 2010, one 7"x50 Baccarat Churchill by Camacho or a Fuente Montesino Toro, and a few Montecristo Classics and Whites over the weekend was enough to satisfy my flavor needs. Working 50 hours a week, then spending 25 more at the gym training, and having many friends and a modest, but full social life basically kept my interest in cigars to that steady, but limited routine until March of 2008. At that point a horrible back condition I had since 2000, along with Cardiomyopathy and Congestive Heart Failure permanently put me on the disabled list of life. I did not get back into smoking in any consistent way probably until early 2010. Being on S.S.D. since September, 2008, I could no longer afford to stroll on in too my local B&M and drop $100 a week on the sticks I wanted. That is when I started buying a couple bundles a month of Baccarat Sumatra Churchills from Famous Smoke Shop, and trying at least one new blend a months progressing to the point that I am at now.
SO, until my Cardiologist puts his foot down and says "it is either cigars or a pine box six feet under", I plan to enjoy as many stogies as I can. And thanks to Cigar Bid, and their undisputed lowest prices of any on-line cigar retailer, I am actually enjoying more fine flavor then ever before. A perfect example is this 4.5"x52 Joya de Nicaragua Dark Corojo Azarosa I am smoking now, Rated 93. It offers some of the tangiest, full, smooth flavor around. If you like Liga Privada No.9, Padilla Signature 1932, or Pueblo Dominicano, you would love this Joya Dark Corojo flavor bomb. Like this smoke, I have rated every cigar I have torched over the past two years. I will post up those rating so anyone looking for some Intel on a new blend they may want to try can at least see what I thought of it the last time I smoked it. nuff said.
